Problem #1: In the very long hallway, the ratio of hats to coats was 2 to 5. If 4900 hats and coats were stored in the hallway, how many were hats?
Well, here's my answer...people are not wearing enough hats. Hats can be such a simple statement of style and personality. Not to mention, these are an excellent way to maintain your temperature when enduring a cold climate. I think the ratio of hats to coats should be 1 to 1. If everyone would just wear a hat, we would not have this problem.
Problem #2: Five times the opposite of a number was 56 less than twice the number. What was the number?
WHAT??...where do they keep the Tylenol around here...
Problem #3: Four hundred diskettes cost $200. What would 140 diskettes cost?
Before buying diskettes, I seriously think that you should contemplate how you are choosing to spend that $200. Wouldn't that money be better spent at, say, Prime Time 50s Cafe in Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World?? I think, yes!
If Barry or Dad reads this blog, would you please send me the answer to these problems....
Ok, Barbara Jo...You are the next Erma Brombeck of North Alabama. You could combine manners and humor. I will be working on a title for your first book. I will host the launch party. I will ..STAY TUNED...
ReplyDeleteI believe the correct answer is, "I'm sorry. I don't DO word problems." You are too funny! And who even uses diskettes anymore???? Doesn't everyone use a jump or thumb drive or some such something? I intensely dislike word problems. Now, maybe I'd enjoy them more if they were about useful topics like how many pairs of shoes you could buy with that $200 if you were in the clearance section and everything was an additional 80% off the lowest price marked...
ReplyDeleteSorry...I can't help. I'm in "metric mode" now that I am out of the US, so those problems don't make any sense anymore.
ReplyDeleteYour dad is in the shower currently, and you know I have a difficult time making sure I get the right change back at Wal-Mart. Ask someone who understands math. Can't you get the "key" from a math teacher? Good luck.
ReplyDeleteBarbara Yo, I think the answers are 1400, 8, and $70, or something similiar. In our travels, we've learned that in the Hebrew language, J's sound like Y's and P's sound like B's. This will change a lot of things... Beter Biper bicked a beck of bickeled bebbers. Yust kidding. Dad
ReplyDeleteOkay your dad wins for awesomest comment.
ReplyDeleteAnd I checked his answers. I concur.
ReplyDeleteWell, Barbara Yo appreciates your assistance...
